Biografia
Brytyjski reżyser, scenarzysta i producent Ridley Scott, urodzony w 1937 roku w South Shields w hrabstwie Durham, jest uznawany za jednego z największych współczesnych reżyserów. Nakręcił wiele klasycznych i kultowych filmów i przyczynił się do powstania wielu innych jako producent (wraz z młodszym bratem, Tonym, założył firmę Scott Free). W 2003 roku został nobilitowany, stając się Sir Ridleyem Scottem. Zaczynał w telewizji BBC, kręcąc seriale typu „Z-Cars" czy „Out of the Unknown”. Miał zająć się realizacją serialu „The Daleks”, kontynuacji popularnego „Doctor Who”, ale uniemożliwił mu to konflikt terminów. W 1968 roku powstała firma Ridley Scott Associates, dzięki której młody reżyser mógł współpracować z takimi reżyserami jak Alan Parker. Kolejne sukcesy przyszły wraz z „Thelmą i Louise” z 1991 roku, który został nominowany do Oscara w sześciu kategoriach (również za Najlepszą Reżyserię, choć Scott nie dostał nigdy Nagrody Akademii), a także „1492: Wyprawą do raju” z 1992 roku. Kolejne lata nie były dla Scotta zbyt przyjemne, lecz od sukcesu „Gladiatora” z 2000 roku każdy jego film jest wyczekiwany przez widzów na całym świecie.
